Colbert Catches Up

Stephen Colbert is back from a week off.  Last night he commented on last week’s shift in the Bush Administration’s characterization of its Iraq policy, and Rush Limbaugh’s comments on the Michael J. Fox commercial.

  1. I know somebody with PD, and I’m quite familiar with the drill. MJ Fox’s movements can be due to extended use of Sinemet, a dopamine replacement medication. But just taking one dose that’s too strong doesn’t do it. The effect is from extended use.

  2. Fox was on Anderson Cooper’s show the other night and he was acting exactly the same way. His disease has progressed to the point that on any given day, he has no idea how well his meds will work. As I have said before, one of Tom’s closet colleagues suffered with this disease for 15 long, miserable years, along with bladder cancer (that’s what killed him), and they had to constantly “tweak” the cocktail of drugs to control the Parkisonian symptoms.
