An end to confusion

At The Guardian in the UK, Michael Tomasky explains our confusion here in the US with how the GOP characterizes the McCain and Obama tickets:

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different.”

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers — a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track — you’re a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

Attend five different small colleges before graduating, you’re well grounded.

Hey, wait a second. “Schultz”? That’s not right, yet a quick check of something leads me to conclude that this really is about our friend Monte Schulz.

Follow-up: Yes, it’s Monte! This line was missing from the original article.

Schultz is a novelist and the son of the late “Peanuts” cartoonist Charles Schultz.

I can’t believe people still get “Schulz” wrong.

TV Reminder: The ’60s Live!

Today on PBS is The ’60s Live!: My Generation, My Music. Petula Clark sings — you guessed it — ‘Downtown.’ Petula is in Manila for the first time, and a fan has written a review of her show last night. Pet does it all again tonight. In fact, given the time difference, it’s already happened.

The Zombies got a repeat appearance from My Music: The British Beat, but no Petula! I must have gotten bum information.
