Barely treading water here with the blog, I’m sorry to say. Unavoidable, with Boston Marathon training underway, so I’ll do another quickie post.
Motown Records just had its 50th anniversary. Label founder Berry Gordy made a point of catching up with the Beatles in 1964 before they returned to England to film “A Hard Day’s Night.”
At the movie studio there was some overlap between the filming of “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Mary Poppins”. Here’s Paul with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
With every step I take when running (if the pace I maintain these days can be called running, rather than jogging) I am truly very appreciative that I’m mobile again. There was that week back in September when I was incapacitated. Without crutches and Percocet I wouldn’t have gotten through it. Somehow, my spine popped back into place and the physical therapist was great.
“GO DOUG! GO DOUG! YAY DOGRAT!!!”. See Doug Train! See Doug Run! See Doug Kick Butt with his New Better Body! We’re all glad you’re back to run your little heart out in the next marathon! You went thru alot of pain but now you get to be back and better than ever! 🙂
The photo is from ’64, and the girl appears to be about eight years old, so I’d say not.
And you thought you’d never run again! See? Hey, is that girl the one Berry had with Diana Ross? You know, of course, that “Dreamgirls” was loosely based on the story of “The Supremes” and how Flo Ballard had the best voice but was shunted to the back because she kept gaining weight. I digress!
Doug! It appears you are there, over Paul’s left shoulder, looking quite dapper, I might add. And how dare Paul light up a fag near Julie when she needs to keep her vocal chords pristine? Just joking!
