Carol and I have just finished watching Up In The Air. Yes, it’s recommended, but it’s a little too obvious that Sam Elliot serves the same purpose that he did in The Big Lebowski.

We did watch “Avatar” last night, in 2D, and it was pretty good, lots of action. What was really weird is that Sigourney Weaver delivered, nearly word for word, a line I say in my play, even using the name of my “son,” “Parker.” ! It freaked Molly and I out to no end. I have no problem with 3D as long as I don’t wear my new monovision contacts, then I’m screwed. I would imagine your cataract replacement lenses would have the same exact effect in a 3D movie! Pain in the tuckus, isn’t it? It took me a while to get used to driving with them, and I absolutely HAVE to take them out before leaving the theatre at night, or I would be a hazard on the road.
I caught a bit of ‘Avatar’ at an electronics store yesterday, and I still have no interest in seeing it. 3D isn’t for me, because I lose the full effect, as a result of my eyes working so differently. One has a cataract replacement lens optimized for near distance, and the other is for far distance.
Honestly, I really don’t make a point of keeping up with everything — except, perhaps, storage area networks — and I don’t keep lists. If something catches my attention I try to point it out, with ‘Boilerplate’ being a recent example.
Another one I meant to watch! Molly absolutely loved “Up,” which they played at her school. No time for me this week, as it is final week of rehearsals, dress rehearsal on Thursday, and opening night on Friday! Tom is away fishing all week, and MAY make the Saturday show “if it’s not raining that night.” You can tell his interest in the theatre is underwhelming.
After that, what are your big recommendations for last year’s season? I didn’t see Avatar, and of course, you can’t watch it in 3-D on DVD. Tom and Molly watched it; should I still bother renting it? What are DogRat’s Top Tens for the 2009-2010 movie season?
