Andrew Sandoval recommended watching this, so I am. Chuck Berry, age 46, at the BBC Theatre in 1972. Berry always traveled alone and played with pickup bands. Here he was backed by a band called Rocking Horse.
Note: Chuck Berry’s recording career began when he was 29, the age John Lennon was when the Beatles broke up.
Mark Evanier stays in touch with Kogen. I probably won’t be buying the Revolver set.
I saw him live, right down front, in the early 70s. My first boyfriend Bill got primo tickets from his Emmy-winning comedy writing uncle, Arnie Kogen. GREAT show!
Speaking of music, did you post a review of the new “everything but the kitchen sink” “Revolver?” I heard CNN John’s spooky but repetive early riff on “Yellow Submarine.” I imagine you got mono vinyl?
