Elvis livEs

One more Elvis post on the 30th anniversary of his death. From October 28, 1956, Elvis’ second appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, he sings “Love Me”…

… and taken from an LP with solid sound is the studio recording of the song, which is one of my top 3 favorites by Elvis.

But wait! There’s more — Elvis performing “Love Me” live, at Pearl Harbor, March 25, 1961.

  1. Hmm, those screaming girls don’t sound too much different than the audience for the Fab Four. During this 30th anniversary of his death, a lot of people have been repeating John Lennon’s famous quote: “Before Elvis, there was nothing.”

  2. No doubt you have heard of Lisa Marie’s new “duet” with Dad on “In the Ghetto.” It’s downloadable at iTunes. I’ve seen parts of it on TV and she’s not a bad singer; not great! but not bad, either. She got all the best of her mama and her daddy’s looks. Her daughter did, too, and is now a model.

  3. I misread this and thought you had chosen “Love Me Tender”! In your Top 3? Ah, but it was actually “Love Me”. Whew, things are okay now. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. “Love Me” was not released as a single, it originally appeared only on an E. P. (Extended Play record – not Elvis Presley.) Yet it was so powerful and the EP sold so well, that it made its way into the Top 10 singles charts in early 1957.
