Do I have one single favorite Beatles song? Actually, yes, I think I do. Overall, I tend to favor John over Paul, but this one is my favorite.

And while I have the old Laser (pre-DVD) video disc player going, here’s a delightful short scene from Magical Mystery Tour. Seeing this, it’s obvious that John had a kid of his own.

Extra: That version of “Hello, Goodbye” is obviously not the original stereo mix from Thursday, November 2, 1967. Further, it’s slower. Or perhaps the mix for the record was sped up. I’ll put it here for comparison, taken from the original Capitol Records LP of Magical Mystery Tour that I first heard 40 years ago.
[audio:http://www.dograt.com/Audio/2008/MAR/HelloGoodbye.mp3]In the UK, Magical Mystery Tour was a double EP, and it had only the songs on side 1 of the American LP.
“Hello, Goodbye?” HUH? Yeah, I love it too. Didn’t I read some where that John hated it, but they all loved the ad lib ending?
There are so many others to choose from! This one is so repetitive and easy that I chose it as an English song to translate into French in high school: “Je dis allo, et tu dis au’revoir ..” I only got a B+ because I was the star pupil in class and the Mrs. Skinger was expecting something more challenging from me, like “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds!”
I can’t put my finger on my favorite Beatles song, but here are some I can’t stand. Go ahead, shoot me! “Get Back,” “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer,” and “When I’m Sixty Four.” Wait. Those are all PAUL songs, aren’t they? Hmm …
Good parenting skills, John! You did not give the potentially dangerous balloon to the little girl, but to George, who soon ties it off! All my mothering instincts went on “Red Alert Defcon when I saw that balloon come out. They made such a big deal about little kids accidentally inhaling them, that I STILL get nervous watching Molly blow one up!
John is so endearing here. A natural, sigh … Only the good die young, fer sher.
