100.3

No, 100.3 isn’t the frequency of a favorite FM radio station, it was my temperature last night. My fever has broken, but I’m still miserable with a very bad cold, the worst I can recall having in many years.

Carol says because of the fever and muscle aches, it must be the flu.

  1. I am still not at 100%, and I’m not helping myself by being back at work this week. But a man’s gotta do whatta man’s gotta do…!

Any remedy involving alcohol is nothing more than an attempt to induce sleep. The recent revelation about cough syrup for kids is that it makes no difference at all. I remember when cough syrup had codeine. Now that made a difference!

  2. Hi! I feel guilty breaking into a family conversation 🙂 but I’m glad you’re feeling better, Doug! People who had the flu this season say it’s a whopper. Just wonder if it’s because of a mild winter not killing the little buggers off. My dad (b.1927) said when he and his brothers and sisters, (10 kids total!), were young and had a fever, his father (b.1900) would give them a coffee cup of hot tea and put a little nip of whiskey in the cup. Dad said it would sweat the fever right out of him! My aunt said she’s surprised they didn’t all grow up needing A.A. My great-grandfather came to the U.S. from Ireland and he used the nip idea. My dad didn’t and I’m glad because I hate hot tea AND whiskey! 😡 Anyhow, take care and stay well!

  3. Doug, I remember one time when we were in high school and you were just standing there by the kitchen door near the stairs, yakking away, and suddenly said, “God, I feel AWFUL!” Within about five minutes, you were flat on your back with a really high temperature. I think that’s how you always got sick! Remember, that’s your earliest memory from childhood! Molly gets sick the exact same way!

  4. Leprosy! My God, it’s leprosy! Just kidding. Sorry to hear you’re sick, Dougie! The best cure for that is curling up in bed with a good book, and I’m sure you have tons of back-log reading to catch up on! Somehow, I’ve managed to avoid getting a single head cold this season, if you don’t count the pneumonia that put me in the hospital in February. I never had any problem breathing through my nose!
