You’re right, Dougie. A plant? God. The last NPR news was that yes, you’re right, Joe was THINKING about buying the business, and that if he did, he would benefit more from OBAMA’s tax plan. And yes, he does NOT have a plumbing license, but my own husband does a lot of plumbing, and has for the neighbors, so what? He’s a licensed electrical engineer. More importantly, don’t you think people should get a license before they become … PARENTS? 😉
I embedded the video without comment because everything I was reading at that moment looked like conjecture and speculation.
The problem as I see it is that rumors are reported as information. This is what happens in the age of electronic media with 24/7 news outlets. Corrections are reported just as quickly, but the information gathering process itself is on display and raw data is exposed, rather than being held until the final report is ready. This is distinctly different from an event that must be reported as it happens, like 9/11 was.
I saw only blogs, not mainstream news outlets, repeating the claim that Joe isn’t a registered voter. I don’t know if MSNBC ran with that rumor, but if they did shame on them.
John McCain insisted on making Joe the centerpiece of the debate on tax policy, so of course he would be checked and scrutinized. The fact is that Joe isn’t a licensed plumber, and he’s in no position to buy out the business. Here’s the best spotlight on Joe I saw, but I think it’s a cheat for the Times to make it a blog entry:
Yesterday, the leftist blogs were speculating that Joe was planted by the GOP, but that rings false. Joe just is who he is, and he repeats a lot of canned Bush administration talking points, but he’s no Republican operative.
Jeanie,
He does not own a plumbing business. He is considering buying the business he works for…he does not need an individual plumbing license because he’s currently working “under” the company owner’s license. The media is trying very hard to discredit Joe. The first “revalation” was that Joe wasn’t even registered to vote. Later in the day it was discovered that he WAS registered. So much for truth in the media’s rush to trash this guy.
Hey, Joe, waddya know? Rumor has it that Joe does NOT have a plumbing license for his business, which is against the law in the state of Ohio!
