Old Orleans

Last night’s Colbert Report featured an interview with congressional candidate John Hall, from the 70’s pop band Orleans, known for “Dance With Me,” “Still the One” and “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” * — songs I played on the radio many times back in my DJ days!

  1. A minor correction – King Harvest did “Dancing In The Moonlight” back in the winter of ’72-’73. Orleans came a few years later and I don’t believe they shared any personnel. John Hall did record the classic love song “Plutonium Is Forever”, though, on the “No Nukes” soundtrack. His song “Power”, espousing the benefits of natural power sources, has remained burned in my brain for some strange reason. Does he have a chance at victory?

  2. Uh, yeah… he should look older. It’s been not 10, not 20, but 30 years! And I’d say there’s nothing balding about that pate. It’s fully b-a-l-d!

  3. Great harmonizing! HA! What’s so great is that Colbert manages to pick victims who can match his wit! Monroe, NY, is also the birthplace of Almanzo Wilder, husband of Laura Ingalls Wilder of “Llittle House on the Prairie” fame. His father’s family were practically founding fathers of the town, and quite wealthy.

Hall looks so much OLDER! Ah, yes, the balding pate. Wonder if he still has the bulging pecs?
