I felt the hundred bucks was a bargain! One of the most memorable evenings I’ve had in many years. I didn’t want to spoil that special feeling by going back for the second night. 😉
The second night was just as good as the 1st, though Paul’s voice was probably a bit stronger on the 1st night. But he IS 67, so it’s pretty amazing that he can still do vocal shredders like “I’m Down” (one of my favorites from the show) and “Helter Skelter”! Yes, JB, he did two songs from “Electric Arguments” and they came off great, well done and well integrated into the set – “Highway” and “Sing The Changes”. He also did “Dance Tonight” from his recent album – and two songs from “Flaming Pie” – the title track and “Calico Skies”. But, the show was heavily weighted towards the Beatles catalog – and what’s wrong with that? “Day Tripper” and “Paperback Writer”? Sign me up!
Lia — Paul says the rumor that he is retiring from touring after next year is not true, so you should get your wish!
Dennis was in the next section over, and he’s back there tonight at this very moment, for the second show!
Paul, how horrible! Nothing’s worse than drunk idiots at a public gathering. And Dougie, you had to put it with it too last night. It’s one thing to sell beer at a ballgame, but sheesh! or did they just bring it in? And that makes it THREE times you saw Sir Paul. Won’t Molly be even more jealous when she hears this! Say, where was Denro?

When I saw Paul I had almost the worst seats in the Centrum…way up in the 300 section. There was only one row further away from the stage and that was right behind me. I had a drunk guy (behind me) spill his beer on me while he was loudly singing to a song. (I really didn’t pay to hear Mr. Drunk-Guy sing…I wanted to be able to hear McCartney.) Overall though, a very fun, nostalgic concert.
Paul — I was at that show in Worcester, then I saw McCartney again at the new Boston Garden (with the variable name). Last night was by far the best one. There were indeed a lot of aging boomers there, but there were many younger people, too. My son Eric, for one, who saw Ringo with me last year. There were two college-age couples in front of us (and a couple of drunk buffoons behind us, unfortunately).

Thanks for sharing the McCartney experience. I had the thrill of seeing him and linda at The Worcester Centrum back in the late 1980s…it was pretty great to see one of the Fab Four.
Poor Tom! All last night he had to listen to: “I wonder what Paul’s singing NOW … sigh … ” But I was right: he started out with my favorite, “Drive My Car.” He looks younger than Tom, wait, he’s only eight years older than Tom (born in 1950). My GOD we’re all getting old. I saw a lot of gray heads when the cameras panned the audience.
Did he sing any of his newer stuff? Some of it is pretty strange, but good, like from the “Electric Arguments” album, not in wide release. (you can hear it on YouTube).
