Phone booths are gone, and faxing has fallen to e-mail, but Tom Sellick got everything else right, except for a couple of things that exist but aren’t common yet.
When these commercials were being made, my son was like the baby in the video phone. Now he’s an inch taller than me!
My computer had crashed yesterday, so I couldn’t watch this, plus Tom’s old friends came up from D.C. This guy, nearly 60! is a physicist who works for the government (D.O.D. and NASA) and is freaking brilliant. I don’t know what he did to my computer, but after about five minutes of lighting fast keystrokes, and no software, it was fixed. I’ve been hearing about him since I met Tom.
Anyway, this commercial, plus Denro’s comic above, really saw the future! It has all come to pass. I have to remind myself that even the internet was a toddler when Molly was born in 1996! Say, did any of Chester Gould’s crazy Dick Tracy stuff ever see the light of day? 😉
