The day before the mid-term elections, The Army Times is publishing this editorial, calling for the removal of Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. It should be noted that although the paper is sold to military personnel, it is a private publication.
A recommendation of my own is that we return to calling the Defense Department the War Department. Invading Iraq had nothing to do with defending America.
I again point out that it isn’t an Army publication, but I still take it to be representative of a broad sentiment in the armed forces.
Wow. This has GOT to be precedent-setting. I’m not much of a history buff, but I cannot think of any other time in our history when the ARMY INSIDERS THEMSELVES wanted to get rid of their OWN LEADER! Pretty bad. I am betting (praying) for a Democratic sweep in the papers tomorrow morning!!! That’s how I voted!
