One reason I left AT&T for Verizon was seeing “Emergency Service Only” during a visit to NYC.
I don’t know what “Emergency Service Only” would look like. It just said “No Service” where it ought to have said AT&T. Other iPhone users seemed to be getting service, so I don’t think it was a complete failure. I don’t know what would have happened if I tried dialing 911 or something, but I’m guessing that “No Service” meant what it said. I didn’t check continually, and when we arrived, I had some level of service, so I know that it would have been possible to get service there — it just wasn’t happening most of the time for me.
Not even “Emergency Service Only?” Yikes! I wonder how the Verizon customers were doing?
AT&T was apparently overwhelmed by this crowd. Not only did I fail to have 3G/Edge internet access, I couldn’t even get voice service. So you can add one to the Sanity column 🙂
