Cartoony Looney – 80

I’m late posting this because I was away, arranging for something very special that will be revealed later. Here’s a Sunday strip for a Sunday that I call “deprogramming a programmer.” The technical references may be out of date, but the point is more true today than ever.

The customer is a character named Desmond that I created back in the mid-80’s. He was a stressed-out high technology worker of a very different sort than Dilbert, who was introduced at the end of the decade.

Today’s logo sketch is another variation on the theme of Bean Head.

Introducing… The Chomper Bug Aliens! When I drew this I felt I’d finally started to hit my stride, artwise.

Imagine if LCD screens hadn’t replaced CRT monitors. Computers are much more reliable today than they were, but when I updated my laptop to Windows 10 version 1809 last week, the function keys controlling brightness stopped working. So the endless aggravations continue!

I’ve been practicing with my lettering guide, as seen in today’s logo sketch.
