Sunshine Pop!

If these songs don’t brighten your day, nothing will. 🙂

“Silver and Sunshine” reminds me of Bible Study retreats in college.

“The Summer of Our Love” could have been a Petula Clark record, being a Tony Hatch/Jackie Trent production.

How I love the distinctive singing style that was popular for girls back then! I suppose it was thanks at least in part to Judith Durham’s influence.

Together For the First Time

Plans have already been made to be in NYC this coming September to see Brian Wilson on tour with the Zombies. In what promises to be one of the most interesting shows I’ve ever seen, the Zombies lineup will include all four surviving original members.

Just arrived at my doorstep, and spinning on the Thorens turntable, is the latest LP collection produced by Andrew Sandoval. The complete studio recordings by the Zombies.

Musical Mileage

NPR has a 60th anniversary tribute to The Year of Great Jazz.

My 1959 Jazz collection is rather limited, consisting of Kind of Blue and Time Out. Something that I feel has contributed to the enduring success of these albums is their superb sound quality. They were recorded live, in the then-new format of S-T-E-R-E-O.
