Together For the First Time

Plans have already been made to be in NYC this coming September to see Brian Wilson on tour with the Zombies. In what promises to be one of the most interesting shows I’ve ever seen, the Zombies lineup will include all four surviving original members.

Just arrived at my doorstep, and spinning on the Thorens turntable, is the latest LP collection produced by Andrew Sandoval. The complete studio recordings by the Zombies.

Musical Mileage

NPR has a 60th anniversary tribute to The Year of Great Jazz.

My 1959 Jazz collection is rather limited, consisting of Kind of Blue and Time Out. Something that I feel has contributed to the enduring success of these albums is their superb sound quality. They were recorded live, in the then-new format of S-T-E-R-E-O.

Happy Birthday to Prue!

Prue’s birthday isn’t until the 24th, but I’d better take advantage of this brief video while it’s available. Unfortunately, the BBC iPlayer doesn’t work in America.

Prue recently appeared on The One Show, talking about her old boss and chum Mary Quant, as a preview of an exhibition about the fashion designer at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, aka the V&A. I’ll have to ask Prue who the woman is speaking, standing next to her. Prue was clearly looking for an opportunity to speak up, but without more video there’s no way to see if she succeeded.

This is a preview video for the exhibit.
