Colbert On Demand

I’ve made mention that the one weak spot in Verizon’s otherwise fabulous FiOS TV service is the free video-on-demand selection. But heck, they’re new and have only 500,000 customers so far. Some bright spots in the free line-up are clips from Comedy Central.

The first few moments of the video has the intro. The reference Colbert makes to a previous appearance by his guest goes back to last October, during my first attempts at embedding video.

Mitt Romney, Scientologist?

A couple of months ago, Stephen Colbert featured a video clip where presidential candidate Mitt Romney professed to have enjoyed the book “Battlefield Earth,” by the late L. Ron Hubbard, science fiction writer and founder of the Church of Scientology. I’ve never seen the movie, starring Scientologist John Travolta, because it’s supposed to be a real clunker, but I read the book, in its first hardcover printing no less, and I agree with Romney. It’s a lot of fun!

Toby Keith is a Big, Fat Idiot

I only vaguely have an awareness of country music singer Toby Keith. About all I can recall is the feud he had with the Dixie Chicks — who turned out to be right, of course, about George Bush. Stephen Colbert had Toby Keith on his show tonight. If Keith isn’t putting on a front, this guy is a total moron. The song Keith sings is the usual sort of unoriginal, by-the-numbers crap that guys like him do. Hey, talent like that goes only so far, y’know? Steve Earle he ain’t, musically or politically.
