Back to Albuquerque

Better Call Saul is even better than its highly praised predecessor, Breaking Bad. The final season of 13 episodes begins on April 18.

My cable DVR says it’s going to record a preview this coming Saturday. After the final episode has appeared, TCM really will be the only reason for me to keep cable TV. The live channel is available with a Hulu subscription, but the Watch TCM streaming service requires a cable or satellite subscription.

Bob Odenkirk suffered a heart attack while he was on the set. He talked about it with Colbert a couple of weeks ago. I first started watching Breaking Bad after Colbert made references to it on his old Comedy Central show.

The shocking, yet not surprising, stories from the final months of Trump’s term in office continue to surface.

Being able to paste in a YouTube URL and have a Colbert video appear is quite a change from 15 years ago. Back then I had analog cable TV being captured by an ATI TV Wonder card.

I edited using a very old version of Pinnacle, then had to convert to FLV, because Flash was the only available streaming video format. The process was labor intensive and extremely time consuming, and it ended in a 320×240 video that was uploaded to the site via FTP. Painful!

What hasn’t improved since then? Dealing with WordPress problems.

Chameleon Actor

Stephen Colbert chatted with Robert Duvall recently. Colbert asked Duvall about working with Brando, which is where this clip comes in.

A very different interview with Duvall would focus on his Science Fiction work, including THX-1138.

Years before THX-1138, Duvall appeared in The Twilight Zone. A while ago I watched as many episodes of the original The Outer Limits as I could before it was yanked from Amazon Prime. The series was good at stretching what could have been half-hour episodes into full hours. Duvall worked well with the deliberately slow pacing, as seen in “The Chameleon.”
