Sorry to see that Larissa didn’t make it to the finals. She lost to Andrew, who was a very worthy opponent.
I’m surprised that Mayim Bialik appears at the end of the video. AFAIK she is no longer associated with Jeopardy!

Every so often when watching Jeopardy! I’m dismayed not only by what I don’t know, but by what the contestants don’t know — cultural references that remind me of my age. For example, William Holden wasn’t recognized from a photo.
I thought a recent Final Jeopardy! was a giveaway. “What is Hawaii Five-O?” None of the contestants got it, which was strange for a couple of reasons. First, the Hawaii Five-O reboot has been running for almost as long as the original series. Second, one of the contestants appeared to be my age.
“The 1980s ‘Magnum P.I.’ used a soundstage of this long-running drama that had just ended, and even referred to its lead character.” All three contestants were wrong; the correct response was “Hawaii Five-O.

Amy is the first openly transgender J! champ, and the Twitter exchange between Larissa and Amy has received some media coverage, including on People.com.
As I have been saying, the big stuff associated with this weblog all happened within its first few years, and Larissa remains the all-time ratings champ. Larissa was so immensely and immediately popular that the site went from nothing to tens of thousands of daily hits overnight, and her every subsequent appearance on Jeopardy! had the same effect. I owe her, big time!
Matt on the Mat
A friend and I were talking this afternoon about Matt Amodio’s very impressive 38-game run on Jeopardy! We must have retroactively jinxed him, because his winning streak ended today.
I thought Final Jeopardy! was a giveaway, but Matt missed it. Even if he hadn’t, he’d have lost the game. I don’t know how many games are produced in a single day and week, but perhaps Matt was getting fatigued.
