Facebook AFU

Weirdest damn problem. Facebook is working on my Verizon phone over Verizon FiOS Wi-Fi, but Facebook isn’t working from any browser on three different PC’s, connected over the same router. Extremely strange, and it isn’t a browser vs. app issue, because Facebook’s Windows app is likewise blank. And it isn’t a DNS problem.

The outage is widespread, apparently on the east coast, and it’s also on MacOS. Facebook on Google Chrome on my phone is also a no-go. I never received a code for 2-factor authentication. It’s as if Facebook is now restricted to their phone apps.

Update: The service is back. All I did was refresh the Facebook page for the umpteenth time. This time it came up. Whatever was wrong was totally on Facebook’s end.

I Admit Taking Graft!

I went to the periodontist today to get a titanium post, but all I got was a lousy bone graft. Based on what he saw a month ago, he was hoping the graft wouldn’t be necessary, but once he opened up the gum, no such luck. $2350 for the graft, and assuming all looks well for the titanium post in three months, that will be another $3000. Hooray for dental surgery!

DJ Memory

Hearing this one puts me right back at the mic in the radio station broadcast studio. This video is funny, because Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks sang the backing vocals, and they aren’t in the video.

Here’s another one. Except by the time this single came out I was functioning as a one-man news department. The circumstances of my quitting that job are painful for me to recall.

The short explanation is that I was working 72+ hours/week for $110 net pay. The station owner needed me to do something that was one thing too many for the hours and the pay. Having made myself as valuable to the station as I could, I left just when it needed me most. I was as young as Randy VanWarmer was in this video.
