I told a friend yesterday that I stopped donating money to our alma mater, and I no longer receive mailings from the alumni association. This post from nine years ago explains why.

Now I’m looking at this new image from the JWST. The Cartwheel Galaxy as it appeared 500 million years ago.
What a nearly impossible series of natural events there were — and weren’t — that made it possible for humans to evolve into the position where we are today. The difference between us and the dinosaurs is, we’ll probably know what it is that hits us, to bring about our extinction.

Another Monkees song was used in a Breaking Bad montage sequence. Writer-director Thomas Schnauz is reportedly the Monkees fan behind the inclusions.
