Robinson Crusoe on Mars — 2

Part 1 of the fondly remembered, but rarely seen, movie Robinson Crusoe on Mars is at this link. Here is part 2. It’s 30 minutes long.

This is my favorite part of the movie, after Mona the monkey is found and before Friday is introduced. Animal characters are usually a turn-off for me, but Mona’s contribution to Draper’s survival makes her an integral part of the story.

  1. “Queen from Outer Space” isn’t out on DVD yet. I don’t remember it being in color, simply because we didn’t have a color TV. Here’s a link to an item about this most delicious example of bad — very bad — 50’s sci-fi!

  2. This movie always had the coolest feeling to it. We never got tired of watching it, and I believe it was shown on the notorious WOR Channel 9 in NYC, where the played and replayed the same movie all day on the weekends. Speaking of which …

What I wouldn’t give to see a clip of another great old WOR classic: “Queen of Outer Space,” with Zsa Zsa Gabor, especially the scenes where she tells one of her sexy henchwomen she’s free to go, then laser-guns her in the back as she leaves. Then, of course, there’s the scene where the remove her mask a la Phantom of the Opera. The funniest part? Hands down, the beginning, when the astronauts’ girlfriends and wives are waving and throwing kisses at the departing rocket!
