Wet Pet

Hi! What? Oh, you want more Petula Clark? Sure! We love Petula Clark.

But … but you want WHAT? Pet singing her 1961 song “Sailor (Your Home Is The Sea)”? A video of her singing it? In FRENCH?? AND her original English single, too? Sheesh, you’re asking a lot, you know that?

  1. Pet married Frenchman Claude Wolff, and was a big hit in France, so was forced to learn French, and fast! In eighth grade, I was delighted when our teacher had us listen to Pet Clark records en francais. I can still remember the beginning of “I Know a Place:” It went: “Viens avec moi, je connais un petit … ” which means “Come with me, I know a small” but that’s all I can remember. I also remember another singer doing “Jingle Bells” “Vive la vent, vive la vent, vive d’hiver!” but that means “long live the winds of winter! Go figure!
