Eric has been Simpsonized! Here he is, visiting the school he would have attended if he lived in Springfield.

Maude died some seasons back, if I recall correctly she was hit by a flying tire after a crash at a car race they were watching.
Hmmm, let me amend that… I just double-checked and here’s the story from Wikipedia: “Maude died after being knocked off a grandstand at the Springfield Speedway (If Homer had not been distracted from catching the t-shirts launched in her direction by an air-bazooka, it is likely that the accident could have been averted). Homer had also parked in the ambulance zone, preventing any quick resuscitation.”
Yeah, she was killed (it was Homer’s fault, of course). I had no idea you missed more of “The Simpsons” than even I did! I used to tape them to show to Tom’s boys because their mother wouldn’t let them watch them at home. Naturally, once Molly arrived, same thing, no time for anything.
I watched the first three seasons of The Simpsons, but after Eric was born I only occasionally caught an episode. I didn’t know the character Maude Flanders is gone, but I recall that her original voice, Maggie Roswell, quit and later returned. One review of the movie I read said it plays things too safe.
Molly and I went to the movie today. We were disappointed on many levels. The NY Times review said it best: that it was like a “pretty good” regular episode. I’ve missed so many seasons. What happened to Ned Flander’s wife? Also, SPOILER ALERT! A totally unnecessary gay gag is used. Many parents in our crowded theatre groaned as they had brought the tiny ones, despite the PG-13 rating!
