A comment writer named Max asked for the impedance of the Allison AL-110 loudspeaker, from the late 80’s. It’s 4 Ohms.

My Allison model 3’s are currently sadly silent, since I lost a midrange in a tragic “bump” coming from my ampli (it also literally blowed up a condenser on the crossover, already fixed). I’m from Italy, no way to find a spare up now… I’m green with envy you could talk directly to the father of my 3’s! (and I’m greener you could buy the spare midranges π ). Nice blog, thanks for your posts about Allison’s vintage products!
Ha, ha! SNORT! I love your play on words, Jeanie! π
Huh, what’s “impedance?” A speaker that won’t behave? π
I was actually talking to Roy Allison when I picked up that spec sheet, in Framingham, MA where I work (it also happens to be home of Bose), his second location, after starting in Natick. I wanted to buy a couple of replacement midrange drivers for my Allison 3’s (a smart precautionary move), and I simply walked in and bought them. Allison happened to be going through the lobby and I took the opportunity to say hello and tell him how much I appreciated his speakers. There was a glass wall on one side where you could watch the drivers being assembled, piece by piece. Very impressive.
