Every time everybody gets worked up writing comments arguing about politics, my inclination is to post a K3 video. Not as punishment, even if you feel that way! 😉
The Belgians of French Wallonia and Dutch Flanders don’t get along, so it’s nice when Karen, Kristel and Kathleen do something that’s a bit Frenchy, as in this thoroughly delightful homage to Georges Méliès. This is one of their softer tunes. As you can see, Kristel was pregnant at the time. Watch this and fall in love with the three K’s. And if you don’t, well…. there’s just no hope for you! 🙁

It’s just so darned appealing and likable, and the silent movie gimmick makes the video more interesting than it would have been otherwise, and it’s entertaining and interesting as it is.

“The Trip to Mars” belongs in my collection of “essential K3.” Besides having a wonderfully warm and relaxing melody, their harmonies are hypnotic. The video is perfection, including hilarious bits of physical comedy. Karen totally nails the body language of silent movie comedy, even echoing some moves of Charlie Chaplin. Watch it again if you think I’m exaggerating.
These are truly talented women, and why almost nobody else seems to be able to get past the Flemish and catch onto what caught me remains a mystery to me.
I did one post — just one — of another European singer, and it’s had more hits than all of the K3 posts combined. So in a shameless grab for hits, more Alizee will be coming up.
Oh, Hell! K3, take me away! I will never reply to a political post again! Politics gets too personal and it just isn’t worth it. Without politics the world would be alot quieter and more relaxed! 🙂
