I love Colbert, but I’m enough of a realistic/cynic to suspect the timing of his visit to Iraq isn’t coincidentally following Conan O’Brien’s first week on his new shift. And this week’s issue of Newsweek features Colbert as guest editor. It’s out now, but our copy (I’ve subscribed to Newsweek for 25 years) didn’t arrive in today’s mail.
Haven’t had a chance to watch (I’m at the library right now, so I’m cheating!) but will try to this weekend. I did catch a clip on TV and saw that Obama himself ordered the shave!
What a fantastic (first) show! As my wife pointed out, it’s amazing how you can get to know a performer who’s pretty much ALWAYS in character, and yet truly feel you know who he is and what matters to him as a person. Definitely someone special.
