Happy Oscar®, Kevin Brownlow!

Right now, TCM is showing F.W. Murnau’s silent film classic, Sunrise.

The first time I saw scenes from Sunrise was in the documentary series Hollywood: A Celebration of The American Silent Film, that was co-created by Kevin Brownlow. Saturday night, Brownlow received an extremely well-deserved honorary Oscar®. The Bioscopic site has an excellent post about the event, including links to videos.

  1. I laughed a lot when the femme fatale tells to the man to kill his wife and then he is very angry and he tries to suffocate and then she suddenly kiss him, and happens nothing and he is agree with the plan to kill her… LOL!!

  2. Yes, that German Expressionist style of dancing is good for a laugh. My coincidence is that I happened to be down the hall from Janet Gaynor when she died at a hospital in Palm Springs, CA.

  3. What a coincidence, I watched this movie last Saturday “on Youtube” because I have to do a work for college about it. That femme fatale is funny!
