Dutchmen Pop

My DJ roots are showing once again. Years before “Radar Love,” Golden Earring, from Holland, had the British Beat sound nailed in 1965.

Here’s the big hit that got a lot of play in the college cafeteria jukebox. With a somewhat changed lineup, the band certainly got their sound — and their look — right for the 70’s.

  1. Had no idea that Radar Love was that old. I think that Twilight Zone must have been the first Golden Earring song I was aware of, so I associated them with that era (mid 80’s?). I certainly knew Radar Love, though — maybe it had a resurgence when Twilight Zone came out. Certainly wouldn’t have guessed that they were founded in 1961 — wow!

In other Golden Earring news, from their wikipedia entry, “The band announced on 5 February 2021 that it would stop playing after founding band member George Kooymans was diagnosed with ALS.”
