Cannery Row Jury

I’m borrowing something from Cartoon Research. It’s a cartoon that really disturbed me as a little kid, so of course I watched every time it was on TV.

Jerry Beck & Co. have launched a streaming Internet cartoon channel. It’s on Twitch.tv, rather than YouTube. I think that’s a good idea, considering my last post. You can watch it for free, but full membership is $5/month. I’m considering joining up.

  1. The electric eel chair was very unsettling to me when we were kids, but for that reason I actually liked the cartoon. I think I know the other one you’re referring to, and I should be able to track it down. But the cartoon you really want to remember is “Popeye, the Ace of Space.” Originally presented in 3-D, it offers some very disturbing images. It isn’t on YouTube, because Popeye is still owned by King Features, but there’s a serviceable copy on Daily Motion — https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5utu6m

  2. I hated this one, too! But if memory serves, the same guys served up an even darker L’il Audry, or maybe one of the other characters, of a post-apocalyptic America. I mostly remember a guy having to pay a big bill for an eyedropper full of water, then going insane and screaming “Water! Water!” over and over. Or maybe the plot was the main character was sick of the rainy weather and had a nightmare of a planet with no rain? Do you remember this one? It freaked me out.
