A few years ago I explained the nearly disastrous mortgage underwriting mistake I went through to buy the house I’m in right now. The villain in that nightmare was BankBoston, the creation of a merger between Baybank and the Bank of Boston. BankBoston was later acquired by Fleet, which itself was consumed by Bank of America.
