Back to Hootin’ Holler!

I refer you to this post from late last year, about one of my very favorite comic strips.

Snuffy Smith, by John Rose, is the definition of a perfect strip in the classic tradition. It presents a humorous, self-contained world, both real and unreal, with its own internal logic.

No Love for Pratts?

To our mutual amusement, John and I have chatted about how he settled on “Pratt” for that sequence in the strip.

The answer? John explained it was a perfectly innocent selection. He simply needed a name and that was the one he happened to pick.

He even put the well-worn Hootin’ Holler welcome mat in writing. Whew, that’s a relief!
