A Public Execution

During my month working in Saudi Arabia, back in 1989, I was invited to witness some public punishments (hand amputations) and executions (beheadings).

The offer came from the chief pathologist at a hospital. He explained that the accused wouldn’t feel anything, because they’d be doped up on morphine ahead of time.

I declined to be a part of such barbarism. As I will do again, now that the Federal Government of the United States has lowered itself to indulging the spectacle of public blood sport.

  1. I’m hearing Jim Morrison singing “This is the End …” Trump and Friends have sunk down to level of the lowest figures in human history. Of course, 99.9% of the streaming platforms will refuse to show it, so it may just run in a little box on Truth Social.

You didn’t tell me about the hand trimmings! I assume that was for thievery. No amount of morphine, or even fentanyl! is going to ease the pain of seeing your hand fall into the sand, not to mention the blood. That would be instant PTSD for me if I were forced to watch! Worse, I have an irrational fear of decapitation!

I’m also seeing Ralph Friends randomly shooting prisoners because he’s evil and bored in “Schindler’s List.”
