Never Forget?

A friend sent me some pictures of the USS New York. The ship includes 7.5 tons of steel that were reclaimed from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

The motto of the USS New York is “Never Forget,” as seen in this decoration for its christening, on March 1.

Who was responsible for 9/11? Osama bin Laden. Never forget? A mere six months after September 11, 2001, on March 13, 2002, this is what President George W. Bush said about Osama bin Laden. Note: The link for this quote goes to the White House Web site.

“So I don’t know where he is. You know, I just don’t spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you.”
G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

Oh, by the way. Today is the seventh anniversary of the daily briefing that Bush was given, saying that Bin Laden was determined to strike within the United States.

  1. Hi! I know, Jean, so many people have suffered from 9/11 and the wars. On Sundance Channel the Sierra Club produced a documentary about the people who worked at Ground Zero to recover remains and the few trapped surviving firemen, and it made me so angry how Bush and Whitman told people there was no danger in breathing the air at the site, then to see these people Bush called heroes have to keep fighting like hell to get compensated. One man was too ill to work and lost his home and was living in his friend’s basement. And what the soldiers are going through is horrible. And yet Dubya just smiles for the photo-op like “Oh, shucky darn. Everything’s great!”. AAUGH! He’s such an asshole, pardon my French.

  2. There are a lot of victims of this mess. The workers who cleaned up at Ground Zero are suffering horrific lung disease, and PTSD. Imagine having to sort through body parts. Then there are the soldiers still over in Afghanistan, and the soldiers in Iraq. The ones who were NOT hurt in combat-related activities have NOT been given compensation! Also, suicide rates among vets of these little “parties” is skyrocketing. Good work, G.W.

  3. Since Dubya couldn’t find his way home from his mailbox or his way out of a paper bag, his inane and unapologetic comments, (and offensive to survivors and families of lost loved ones from 9/11), are part of the history of the worst president ever. While he’s in office I don’t think he even cares if we ever find Bin Laden. Given the time he’s been hiding, will we ever?
