Category: Prue Bury and Swinging London
One of the first Mary Quant models, Prudence Bury was part of Swinging London at its beginning. Prue appeared with the Beatles in “A Hard Day’s Night” before Mary sent her to New York to introduce the miniskirt to America.
Prue Day + 2
Prue Day + 1
Yesterday was Prue Bury’s birthday. I would have noted it then, but I was waiting to hear back from her, and today I did. She’s been through a tough and tricky series of events, but she’s landed safely and is managing well.
A long time ago, I promised Prue I wouldn’t share this ad, but I’m gonna do it!

Her comment was that Pattie, being “more buxom,” would have been a better fit for a brassiere ad, but Prue got the job. Vidal Sassoon was standing nearby, having just cut her hair.
Anticipating April
A couple of my friends have birthdays coming up in April. One of them is Prue, who by now should be relocated in France. I’m waiting for her reply to a message I sent.
Here’s Prue’s first husband in an offbeat episode of Danger Man, reprising his croupier role from A Hard Day’s Night. If only Prue had been cast as the lovely lady with Patrick McGoohan. Note the presence of Desmond Llewelyn, the original Q in the James Bond films.
An Easy Day’s Morning
Prue gets her hair done by Betty Glasow, six minutes into this.
