There is something that I have promised to Prue, that’s long overdue, and I’m not quite ready to deliver. So I’m feeling very guilty about that, but Mary Quant’s passing requires me to contact Prue for a comment.
Category: Prue Bury and Swinging London
One of the first Mary Quant models, Prudence Bury was part of Swinging London at its beginning. Prue appeared with the Beatles in “A Hard Day’s Night” before Mary sent her to New York to introduce the miniskirt to America.
Snap-Happy Beatles
Prue says that Ringo was the “snap-happy” Beatle, taking pictures on the set of A Hard Day’s Night. He took this one of her.

That was in March, 1964. Until that month it was Paul who had been the shutterbug.
Quant of Silence
Prue was asked to provide some input for Sadie Frost’s Quant. Having known Mary since she was seventeen, Prue was happy to oblige. The documentary premiered in England last year, but so far there is no word of when it will be available in America. I’ll keep checking.
Prue Bury Blues
HAH! You’re in a Blues song, Prue! He got it right about Pretty Prue and Plain Pattie.

And Now For Something Completely Accidental
More than five years ago, I read this excellent book about the history of George Harrison’s Handmade Films.

Not only did I learn a lot about Handmade Films, I learned something I hadn’t known about Amazon. An author has the ability to give an Amazon customer free access to a Kindle edition of their book(s). Which Robert Sellers did for me, in thanks for putting him in touch with Prue. Robert’s e-mail account must have been hacked, because a few years later I began receiving occasional messages from the account that are obvious phishing attempts. Which concerns me, because I would like to contact Sellers again to talk about something.
Anyway, I’ve read Robert’s book about Handmade Films, but I have yet to see this movie. I will be doing that very soon.
