On November 1 and 2, 1965, the Beatles taped a TV programme in, and for, England called, The Music of Lennon & McCartney. Aired in December, and coinciding with the release of Rubber Soul, the show featured songs performed by the boys themselves, as well as some by special guests. Thanks to YouTube user nyrainbow, here’s pretty much the whole thing. Pay attention to Paul’s introduction of Henry Mancini in part 6, and to the way that Mancini replies.

All Beatles, all the time
Last weekend, I caught a few minutes of Beatles outtakes and studio chatter that was playing on one of the best Beatles radio stations on the Internet, Beatles-A-Rama.

Logitech Squeezeplay plays
I’m very pleased that Logitech’s Squeezeplay software version 7.5.1 is working well on both my Dell Inspiron 530 desktop and Acer Aspire One netbook, with minor quirks that are easy to get around. Previous versions had definite problems, but now I can access my Squeezebox server in places besides the Logitech Squeezebox Radio in the bedroom.

Baby for Karen, Wedding for Kathleen
K3 — Kristel Verbeke, Kathleen Aerts, Karen Damen
Having just posted an ABBA video, I can’t resist saying something about K3. Karen Damen gave birth to a son, named Sky, on February 17, and she’s already returned to work. Former K3 member Kathleen Aerts is getting married in June, and her replacement, Josje, seems to be working out well.
It’s been almost two years since I first caught onto K3, and it’s been over a year since Kathleen quit. If anyone doubts these women have given everything to their craft, and if you think Kathleen’s departure from the group didn’t matter to them personally, take a look at these pictures of Kristel and Karen from Kathleen’s farewell performance last year — two uncommonly beautiful women, only 33 and 34 years old, respectively, at the time. Obviously, losing Kathleen meant everything to them.
