Last week Boston talk radio host Paul Sullivan gave up cancer treatment to go into hospice. It wasn’t a long stay. Paul died Sunday.
Paul Sullivan lived in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, where his family has been prominent for generations. I lived in Tewksbury for ten years, on Sullivan Parkway. I assume there’s a connection, but I don’t know for certain.
Brudnoy was interesting sometimes, but even before he got addled from his illness I thought he was a Libertarian kook. Paul Sullivan seemed to get along with him all right, however, and I used to enjoyed the pass-off between their shows.
I had been a long-time listener to WBZ-AM when Norm Nathan was on, but unfortunately have not listened as often at night here in PA as I’d have liked. I am very shocked to read of Paul Sullivan’s passing. WBZ has had and does have great talent. I also was unaware that David Brudnoy passed away, but I know he was HIV-positive and had a studio in his home. Although I rarely agreed with him, it’s a sad and horrible final days and death to face. I do listen to Jordan Rich and appreciate his sense of humor!
I’m so sorry for the people of Boston and outlying communities who loved this guy. I left long before he became an icon, but I always loved WBZ-radio and its personalities, even before it became all-talk. I worked with a lot of its on-air “Accu-Weather” weathermen like Elliot Abrams (live from State College!) whom many might assume are coming out of Boston!
Knowing Boston, Paul will have one hell of big Catholic send-off. God bless him and his family.
