Fake Plumber at Work – 3

Whew! What a tough, all-day job this was, especially removing the old fixture and drain, but it’s done.

In my previous plumbing-related post I mentioned a tool.

It turned out to be a completely useless gimmick, and a total waste of $20. I went out and spent another twenty bucks on a proper plumbing tool, a basin wrench.

It wasn’t easy to use, twisting myself into the cramped space under the sink, but it worked.

For my next plumbing trick, I’m going to install a faucet in the hall bathroom. Or at least I’ll give it a try.

Looking inside of the vanity, I can see that removing the old faucet will be next to impossible without a special tool. Perhaps even with the tool.

Fake Plumber At Work

Remember Joe the Plumber? Joe wasn’t actually a plumber, but he knew which way the political wastewaters were flowing, being an early Trump for President supporter in 2008.

Joe the Plumber Speaks!

Today I took a turn at playing plumber. In true plumbing fashion, with my pants riding em-bare-ass-ing-ly low in back, I installed a new kitchen faucet.

Debasement

A couple of years ago I started getting water in the basement during heavy rain. The problem has been getting worse, and during yesterday’s storm I rigged up something temporarily that seemed to help.

The house was built fifty years ago, and as best as I can determine there was supposed to be a basement walk-out entrance, but it was never completed. So that will be my next construction project, assuming I can find the right contractor. Someone who can also successfully tackle the water drainage problem.
